at the present time has “worldwide”. The gamelan is not only popular in
Indonesia but widely known and studied world community. Various countries such
as America, Holland, Japan and also Argentina have known gamelan music instruments
and be able to play it. As means of artistic activity, the gamelan music can
act as a medium to interact, socialize, promotion and diplomacy. Good relations
between nations will give a larger space for artistic expression. Establishing
the relationship that ever existed is a good way to connect the events in which
a positive activity can grow. More pro-active in the promotion of culture is a
great way to do.
Gamelan in Indonesian Embassy - Buenos Aires
Indonesian
embassy in Buenos Aires active enough to introduce Indonesian arts and culture,
especially the gamelan music. This is evidenced by the holding of gamelan music
training for Argentina people and Indonesian community who are living in Buenos
Aires, Argentina. Anyone can join to learn to play gamelan music. All done free
of charge. The training was quite get a good response from the local community.
Many Argentine society such as ordinary people, artists, teachers, students and
lecturers took part in that training. Participants were very enthusiastic to
learned gamelan music.
For them,
gamelan is a set of unique music instruments, interesting in terms of form or
how to play it. Gamelan music training for Argentina’s community performed every
Monday at 17:00-19:00 and Saturday at 18:30-20:30, while for embassy’s family
and Indonesian people who live in Argentina on Friday at 17:00-18:30.
Gamelan music
training has got a significant progress. It can be seen from the routine of
local community in learning the gamelan. Over the last two years the gamelan
training performed routinely. More than 50 people registered as participants,
and active participants between 15-20 people. Like a plant, it is timely. Sow
seeds of culture, and one day is not wrong if it hopes to reap the rewards. All
depends on the commitment and seriousness in doing so. In the hope that this
training becomes a powerful magnet in socializing gamelan music.
